I recently updated my system from 10.3.9 to Leopard 10.5.8.

Today I tried to log and capture some footage, and FCP freezes every 5 minutes of capturing.

Also, FCP used to render my video as it captured it. Now I have to render after it’s logged and captured.

What seems to be the problem? Is FCP 4.5 not compatible with Leopard? Do I need to reinstall the software? Am I missing something?

    Thanks: George

    FCP 4.5 isn’t compatible for Leopard. https://support.apple.com/kb/ht2679
Either upgrade to FCS2 or the best option would be to get FCS3 and also Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6)

[Peter Brewer] “the best option would be to get FCS3 and also Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6)”

Just to be clear, Snow Leopard requires an Intel mac.

Is your capture drive formatted as a MacOS Extended or as a FAT32?

I’m not sure. How would I tell?

I’m just curious. FCP works, but not the way it used to. If it wasn’t compatible, wouldn’t it not work at all?
