fcp 7 no audio
I just upgaded to FCP 7, everything working fine. I catpured SDV last night and then encountered audio problems- have audio (can see meters working), audio settings correct (set to play out of speakers), can hear audio from speakers in other programs, and trashed my FCP preferences but nothing’s working- can’t here audio on speakers and camera is no longer connected.
Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks.

2 places to check settings.
FinalCut Pro> Video/audio settings > Built in Line Output (if speakers are hooked up to back of computer)
View> Audio Playback> Built in Line Output

Like most editing systems, your audio should be monitored out of your video deck, not the Mac. Connect your audio monitors there.
If you flip back and forth between using your deck and having it disconnected you should become very familiar with your View > External Video and Video and Audio portions of the View menu. As Michael mentions, you can set it so audio comes out of the Mac always from the View Menu if you wish. But if FCP gets confused, you know where to look.

Whats a video deck? 🙂
Haven’t had one of those hooked up in a long time. I just rent them if they are ever needed.
But like so many people that post there really wasn’t enough info and I was just guess, but I would say that more people monitor out with there video card to speakers.

4 years later, Michael’s simple A/V settings check stopped me from pulling my hair out any more. (I had installed an AJA iOexpress thing and… ah… never mind). Bless you sir.
