I’m working on a project where I had to make do with a – very – basic cam recorder. Meaning, that I didn’t have proper white balance options. I couldn’t manually set the white balance, so I had to make do with the Auto balance.

The video consists of a white piece of paper with a hand sliding across it. However, with the white balance set to Auto, this makes for horrible fluctuations in white balance. What I would like to know is, whether it is possible to select a portion of the screen and mark it as white throughout the sequence?

Hello Dave, thank you for your reply. I had some trouble doing it your way. I’m rather new to After Effects, however, I did find out about the Color Stabilizer effect that does just what I want 🙂

For anyone else with this problem, the effect only comes with the Pro version, and there are also a few plugins around, namely Tinderbox DeFlicker (Tinderbox 1) and GBDeFlicker.

Hehe, I thought you were referring to Time Difference in combination with color correction. Anyhoo, thank you again for your help *tips hat*
