I’m new to the video world, and i’m trying to set up my MacPro to do some Edit.
The problem is with the RT Ultimate, i’ve applied a Filter (neat video noise reduction) to a ProRes 422 1080p clip and I can’t playback it with some decent fps.

The MacPro is actually set like this:

    -Processor: 2×3.2Ghz Quad-Core
    -Main Drive: SSD 256GB
    -RAID Striped: 2x150GB 10000rpm
    -Video Card: Geforce 8800GT 512MB
    -RAM: 12GB

I’ve put all my videos and the FCP project in the RAID. In the FCP preferences, i’ve set the scratch disk on the RAID and also the Waveform, Thumbnail and Autosave Caches folders, is that correct? or should I use the SSD drive?

PS: i’ll try to substitute the RAID hard drives with 2x256GB SSD, do you think it’ll help? or the problem is the video card?

Keep your project file, autosaves, thumbnails and waveforms on your startup disk. Best kept in your documents folder. Put all the media files on your raid.

If your sequence settings match the properties of your media files, they all should play just fine on that raid…
