  audio track not heard

  – footage shot with a Canon AVCHD consumer camera
  – ingested using FCP as Prores422
  – edited and exported in stereo

  ISSUE: a certain model of Dell laptop does not play the audio off this track(tried three different units). You hear the music bed and effects from other tracks but not the audio from the captured footage.

  It plays fine on my mac, and other Dell laptop models, Acers etc etc. I had some IT guys comb the setting of the Dell but to no avail. Other videos play fine on these PCs.

  thoughts…
  – what if the audio record settings were set to 5.1 surround?
  – anything to do with ingest settings?

  Help!! stumped big time!

  Is it related to a “left channel” – “right channel” split audio issue?
  (One channel not being heard on the computers?)

  could be out of phase music that shows up only there. If you think it’s in 5.1 (that would be a surprise) open it in STP and it should show.
  I’d try other audio in the Dell to see what happens. If it plays elsewhere it indicates something odd with the Dells. You’re doing video,not IT
