Alright, I finished up a bunch of animation that has to hit certain time queues.

Last night, there were some last minute changes done to the audio track. That means that all the animation is now off.

I thought about making a pre-comp and then playing then playing with the time remap tool. However, I’m not sure if this will look right when it’s all said and done. It might make the camera movements look wonky.

I’ve made previous posts about moving layers in the time line while moving all it’s corresponding key frames with that layer. I haven’t found a way to do this yet and didn’t get an answer in my previous post.

If anyone knows how to do this, please do not hesitate to reply! That would make the adjustments to this project so much easier! If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post those as well.
    Thanks.

    Malcolm,

Do you mean you want to move the layer in the timeline WITHOUT moving it’s keyframes? Just hit the U key and put the time marker on the first keyframe for that layer, note the time down. Select ALL kfs for that layer, cut…move the layer where you want it and then paste the KFs back onto the layer at the point the first one was before. does that make sense?

Otherwise, if you’re trying to move the layer and want it’s KFs to go with it, then…well that’s automatically what happens.

    Can you be more specific?

I’d like to nudge the layers foward in the timeline. I need the keyframes to move with that layer. You say this is automatic? I must have some switch flipped or something. It wasn’t doing that yesterday. I’ll try again this morning.

What you first thought might work possibly will. If you nest a composition that consists of graphics and not footage and want to use time remap to slow down or speed up the moves to hit new music, this will work and will look perfect. It will behave just as if you had slid keframes down. Use your collapse transformations button on the nested comp and time remap away. Render as usual.

I have done this and it worked perfectly. As long as you are not time remapping critical footage and only graphics that are moving with keyframes, time remap will do exactly what you need it to.

It sounds like you are trimming the layer’s in & out points or using the “slip edit” tool. Select the black pointer in the Tools pane. Highlight the desired layer. Click somewhere in the middle of the layer and drag it to the desired location. OR move the CTI (current time indicator) to the desired new in point, highlight your layer and hit the “[” button.
