‘Ghosting’ Animation file?
Hi all, had a weird issue today where I had an animation file I made in After Effects was ghosting and leaving nasty fragments behind. The file was just text I made with both RGB and Alpha channels. It only happens when I change the size manually, I was adjusting for title safe/action safe and it showed up. ALSO it doesn’t show up until I’m in the middle of a cross dissolve, isn’t that weird?! any ideas?

Okay Charles, so now we know all about the graphic you created in AE, but you posted this the FCP Forum and neglected to tell us anything about FCP. How about divulging your codec and/or sequence settings in FCP?

well, the codec is animation, the sequence settings are set to animation just for export, then I bring it into MPEG Streamclip and export it as DVCPro, etc, helps preserve that sharp looking text. Sorry, I should have been more clear…

I don’t really understand why you have so many steps involved in your workflow. Why can’t you simply export from After Effects to the final codec required for the job.
Aside from that, using the DVCPro codec is far from the best codec for graphics. Are you using it because your project was shot with a Panasonic camera?

I know its really bad for graphics, which is why I export as animation then re-export as dvcpro50 through mpeg streamclip, that workflow has seemed to work pretty well so far. I work for a church doing tv promo’s and stuff for web, the other editors all work and export their shows in dvcpro50 so I need to match their settings, that’s really the only reason why I have it set up that way.

You should be able to export from after effects as dvcpro.
if mpeg stream clip can do it then AE should have access to that codec as well.
you’re working too hard buddy 🙂
