Hey all just wanted to see if any one has experience with lacie’s 5big? I am looking at it for editing not storage so has any one had problems with speed or anything else? Most HD I work on I edit at a pro res level then up res only for online. So if it can handle pro res with out choking I am probably set.

    Let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks
    Phil

ProRes is an online quality codec. Or do you mean ProRes PROXY? ProRess 422, ProRes HQ, ProRes LT, are all full quality online codecs.

No experience with that LaCie. I have not had a good past With LaCies, which is why I don’t recommend them. I use CalDigit and Maxx Digital stuff. G-Technology too on occasion.

Yup – I’ll come back to LaCie when the build quality has been improved – especially on connectors.
