  DVCPro HD 1080i/24P & 1080p30

  Hi-

  I shot some footage on a Varicam 3700 set to DVCPro 1080i/24P. When I brought the MXF files into FCP the clips were changed to DVCPro 1080p30. When I put them in a timeline (settings at DVCPro 1080p30- no field dominance) they play very jittery in the computer monitor.

  My editor then put a deinterlacing filter on them in the timeline and then they seem to play fine. Seems like we shouldn’t have to do that or should we?

  Any thoughts?

  This has been a bug for a long time. You really want your clips set to upper field first and edit in an upper timeline since your material is interlaced (24p w/interlaced 3:2 pulldown). You should edit in a 1080i60 DVCPro HD timeline.

  I have the same problem, but if I put the settings to 1080i60 DVC PRO HD in the timeline, all my clips in my sequence are green (need some render) Why if this is a native codec need render? Is there a way to make final cut to ingest the media in 1080i60 with upper field and not 1080p30? Do you know some tutorial? I will prefer to edit in prores, but how I make all my clips to be in prores and relink?
