Recently we switched from a PC based video editor where we could affect things on an entire track, such as:

    1. reposition every graphic on a track vertically or horizontally rather than move each graphic individually.
(example: all lower thirds need to be lower)
    2. Add an audio or video effect/ on an entire track. (like a compressor, or broadcast safe plug-in)

Is there another way to make global changes like this?

    Thanks!

    Larry,
There are two ways to do this:
    1. Apply your effect or filter or reposition the first clip on that track. Copy that clip (Command C or right click copy), then highlight the rest of the clips, right click and choose paste attributes, a contextual menu will pop up and you choose what attribute you would like to copy to those clips.
    2. Highlight all clips in the track and then option c, which will bring up a dialog to name a nest of clips.
your clips will be replace by one big nest, which you can apply moves and filters to. If you need access to the individual clips, double click on the nest and it will open up in a new sequence. There are some things that nest don’t do very well, you will need to experiment.
    Hope this helps…
