HD Monitors-comparisons?
Trying to decide on a professional grade high def monitor for the edit bay that can also be used in the field. Looked at and like:
Panasonic 1710
Panasonic 1760
FSI 1760/1770
TV logicAnyone know of a shootout between any of these? Maybe you’ve used any combo and compared them? I searched and came up with individual reviews but nothing pitting one against the other.
Any help appreciated.

I have tried pretty much all of those. FSI’s are the best I’ve seen. We run the 2450W and 1760W models in our shop. Got a 1770W coming in soon too. Great monitors and the best overall picture I’ve seen.

The TV Logic and the FSI use the same panels, but FSI is cheaper..and looks as good, IMHO.
I was just at a “monitor shootout” at Alpha Dogs in Burbank, CA, and saw the TV Logic XVM-245W, FSI LM-2470W , Cine-Tal CIneimage B230, two Sony models (PVM-L2300 and BVM-L231) and JVC DTV-24G1Z. All but the JVC were 10-bit panels, so they were all in the $10,000 range.
I tell you, you were hard pressed to tell the difference between the image on any of those monitors. It was VERY close. I could say that I would be happy with any of those monitors. But they were the pricy ones.
I have seen the FSI and Panasonic monitors, and give the choice between those, I like FSI. But Panasonic is VERY close.

Not exactly. You’d have to talk to Bram and Dan at FSI to get all the details, but everything on the FSI monitor is made to their specs which are different than TV Logic’s. In particular with the image processing.

Bram was there. I was talking to him. He’s the one that said that the TV Logic and FSI had the same panels. But all the rest of the electronics are different. The TV Logic looked a tad dark compared to the FSI, but other than that, the image was identical.

Cool, I knew the monitors we made to their specs, particularly the electronics.
