  Problem Final Cut Pro avi files

  Hello,
  When I import files .Rar in Final Cut Pro, He can not read and I reported a problem with codec. Is what should I download codecs ? If yes, Which?

  You should not even attempt to edit avi files in FCP they are not compatible and will cause you nothing but headaches.

  Convert the files to a proper editing format that is compatible with FCP.

  Hindsight is always 1080p

  Files with .rar extensions are archive files like .zip files, rather than video files … if someone sent you .avi files inside a .rar archive, you may need to use WinRAR to extract them (I don’t recall whether StuffIt or the Mac OS can read them), then convert them to a FCP-friendly codec as already suggested.

  I believe MPEG Streamclip can convert avi to QT in FCP-friendly formats.
