  • Gray bars on quicktime video

Posted by Jaron Downs on February 24, 2010 at 9:54 pm

For some reason, when I export my sequence from fcp, I often get these gray bars on the video, 3 on the right, 3 on the left, and one in the middle. Sometimes I can see the bars only on the thumbnail of the video clip but when I go ahead and burn it to dvd, they show up on the video. Other times, the gray bars show up right on the video in quicktime.

Does anybody know what they are and how to get rid of them? I am exporting using the file>export quicktime movie (no compression, using current settings)

    Thanks

    Hi,

Those gray bars mean that you download and installed one of our Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs – the gray bars are the DEMO MODE watermark. Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs are not meant for a Mac computer with any version of FCP installed.

    To uninstall:

    1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the Applications directory
    2. Delete the Calibrated component from the /Library/QuickTime folde r(that’s the Library folder on the Main Harddrive NOT the Library folder in the User directory)
    3. Restart

    and you’re all done.

    Cheers,
    Greg
