Shotput Pro?
Posted by Brandon Sesenton on February 18, 2010 at 8:54 pmI have a client asking for ShotPut Pro to be installed on one of our Macs. Before we buy this thing what does it do exactly? I notice the site says “offload software”. Is it just to dump footage onto a drive sans use of FCP?

February 18, 2010 at 9:03 pmIt’s an app primarily used for offloading video from any of the various types of memory cards and devices that are used in most newer cameras. There are free apps available from every manufacturer, but apparently Shotput works with them all and has some “failsafe” measures built-in that verify the data transfers throughout the process, making the offloads less prone to errors, which can be quite disastrous.

Correct.
I use this software and swear by it for P2 and SxS workflows, I like the added benefits from R3D manager and Clipfinder a slight bit more for RED content.
