Going back and forth from FCP6 and FCP7
Hi everybody,
I have a quick question. I am working on a project that I have some freedom to work at my home office editing on FCP6, but the production company that I am freelancing with has FCP7. My plan was to get all my rough cuts done at my place so that I can work in the comfort of my home, then when I need to finish the project (they have a much bigger/faster/better system) I would go up there and finish. However, I have realized that I am missing some footage that I need so I have to go up there and get it.
My question is, is there a way to work on FCP6…open project in FCP7…save it a certain way…then be able to open it back up in FCP6? I’m not sure, but I doubt that there is. If not, I was wondering if one mac can have both FCP6 (just Final Cut not other apps) as well as FCP7? This company uses me exclusively as their editor most of the time, so it would be great if I could have FCP6 on there if I needed to do a quick edit and still have that for working on my system. So basically just installing FCP6 only to that computer.
I know what most of y’all are thinking, why not just upgrade? I know, I know. I’m in a business transition and I can’t afford to upgrade. I’m also still on Tiger so I would have to get Leopard and FCP7, and I’d rather just wait until I get a whole new system all at once.
Thanks for any help! 🙂
