Dual Mono Capture on HDV Capture Preset
I am capturing an interview from my Sony Z1 camera to Final Cut Pro 7 using a Firewire 400 and the HDV capture.
The problem is that the audio is a dual mono recording but FCP is capturing track 1 only.
If I change the capture preset to HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec, it captures both tracks but I would prefer to log and batch capture my footage.
Any suggestions?

In Log & Capture you have options to set up capture of video and audio tracks. It must be set to only capture one track. Change that to dual mono or linked stereo.
By changing to AIC you are simply selecting an easy setup that has both audio tracks enabled. You don’t want to transcode everything to AIC so change your capture options and save that as an easy setup for the future.

Thanks for your response.
I’ve checked the audio selections in clip setting in log and capture but and both are selected.
I agree that AIC is not the best option for all; it takes up too much memory space but more so, can I convert a stereo pair to dual mono?
Further advice is appreciated.

Did you capture 1 track as your first post said or both tracks linked as stereo?
If you captured your dual mono as stereo linked, you can unlink and treat each track as independent in the timeline. Linking/ unlinking is well explained in the manual or search this forum as it has also been covered many times before.

Thank you again for your post.
The footage was captured as dual mono and both channels showed levels during playback. I did not link them as stereo.
After 12 hours of climbing the wall, I eventually found the answer. I trashed my preferences, did a reboot, and hey presto, I am now able to capture dual mono audio track.
