I’m shooting a project with two Sony HVR-V1U’s and half of my media is being recorded onto a Sony HDD and the other half on tapes. We’re shooting in 24pA.

When I log and transfer the media off of the HDD, everything comes in beautifully at 23.98 Apple ProRes 422.

When I capture off the tapes, however, FCP doesn’t seem to be removing the pull down, so the footage ends up at 29.97 in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ).

Additionally, about 45 mins into the capture, FCP will crash.

Furthermore, all the files that are being captured end up as text files in my capture scratch folder and won’t be imported.

Select the 29.97 fps clips in the Browser, then choose Tools > Remove Advanced Pulldown.

Your media files remain the same size, but they are set to play back at 23.98 fps. If no advanced pull-down flags are detected, the media file remains at 29.97 fps.

    Or keep trying during capture…
