disable audio playback in viewer
Hey Guys,
I have a clip – DVCPROHD 720p – the clip won’t play back at full frame for more than a couple seconds. I think I’ve narrowed it down to a weird audio format…because when I place it in my timeline and disable the audio tracks, it plays totally fine.
So, my question is – how do you disable audio playback on a clip in the viewer?

Type cmd+9 on one of these errant clips, and post the audio format that is reported in the clip’s properties…

Rate – 48.0 KHz
Format – 32-bit Floating Point -
It’s what it’s supposed to be I think.
Tried reimporting the errant clips from the original MXF files again?

These were recorded with a GoPro camera…h264 video and AAC audio. I transcoded with compressor to the DVCPROHD…but the audio was “pass-through”. So it’s still AAC, which I know isn’t FCP friendly.
The audio is COMPLETELY irrelevant…it won’t be used. I just need to “un-marry” the audio and video on playback. I know I can do this in the avid by disabling the *monitor* button on the source clip in my timeline. Is there a comparable function in FCP?

My solution right now is to open the source flie in QT7…open properties…delete audio track, then relink in FCP. This does what I need, but it just seems like a lot of work just to turn off monitoring of the audio on a clip! 🙂

I don’t think there’s a better solution other than to re transcode the clips, but this time include the audio…

I’ll add that to my feature request…that is brutal, I can’t believe that you can’t turn off preview on source clips…you can do it in the timeline.
