    Hey guys,

got some B&W 8mm film I’vee been asked to ‘colorize. You know of a good filter/plugin/tutorial in FCP, Color, Motion or AE that can help me out with achieving this. I don’t think the client is very anal or specific. He just wants to add color to an old film.

Any help would b great. Thanks!

    Hi Rick,
You can try with “Tint” or “Sepia” from the “Image Control” filters.

It is easier in Color using the HSL keyer in the secondaries to isolate tones and then add color cast to.

The same effect can be done in a more clumsy way using lots of 3 Way CC filters using the limit effect mode which is basically a poor man’s HSL keyer.

    Michael,
Is a B&W picture you have no tones to select.
The 3W-Ct would push the chroma up introducing noise because the original picture have no Chroma.
