  • Rendering General Error in FCP-HELP!!!

Posted by Chad Reynolds on February 5, 2010 at 11:10 am

I’m relatively new to FCP, but have never had a problem rendering before. I am getting a general error with no number when I try to render my sequence.

The areas of my sequence/timeline that have orange above them have the following message. “The sequence segment exceeds the maximum allowed data rate.”

What does this mean, and what do I need to do to fix it. I need to render and save this video asap so I can upload it for approval. Please help.

Do you have stills on this timeline? Are they large files that exceed 72dpi and are larger than your actual project?FCP doesn’t like that. I recommend resizing them with Photoshop (or similar) and making exporting as .png files and only slighty larger than your timelines frame size if that’s the case.

If not, something in your timeline is wonky.

I’ve gotten the General Error before when exporting the Timeline to QT or WMV. I’ve found a reboot of the whole computer takes care of the issue for me.
