Removing Speed From a Clip
Posted by Sam Pope on January 25, 2010 at 3:10 pmI shot a bunch of footage a 60fps and I need to speed it up to real time, 24fps.
What is the best way to do this and maintain quality?
Thanks

Pop open the manual for Cinema Tools and go exploring while you’re waiting for the more experienced wonks to offer better suggestions.bogiesan

I know that I could just do the math and slow down the clip the appropriate percentage to get it to real time. But I know there’s also got to be a way to remove frames.

January 25, 2010 at 4:41 pmThe quick and dirty way would be to apply the appropriate speed setting directly in the FCP timeline and turn off “frame blending” — that should make FCP just do the equivalent of a “nearest frame” motion conversion. (At least in FCP 6 — I haven’t tried the new speed tools in FCP 7 yet).
The other route would be to use compressor, and set the rate conversion to “Fastest (nearest frame).”
