IDVD content duration error message. PLEASE HELP!
I am trying to burn 2hours and 10 minutes of video to IDVD. It keeps saying my project exceeds the maximum content duration and to drop content but I can’t drop any of it as it is all important. I have lowered the bit rat as low as it will allow me in the minimum bitrate setting and it still is not enough.I am getting desperate as I need to get this project finished. PLEASE HELP!

If you’ve hit the time limit, then dropping your bit rate wont’ help. you either need to remove some content, or you need to use a different tool to author your disk. Try using DVD Studio Pro, there’s no limit on duration.

I just had the same problem trying to finish an iDVD project that was 2 1/2 hours long. We did discover a work around that was successful and I created a DVD exactly the size I wanted. When you are ready to burn a DVD or create a Disc Image or Video_TS folder, go to Project at the top of the screen. For DVD Type choose Dual Layer. For Encoding you can use Best Quality if you want, but I thought that High Quality would be fine. Just to be on the safe side I saved the project with these options, then opened again. Now when you choose one of the options (burn, save as disc image, etc.) the error message does not come up. Let the program do it’s thing – it really did take over 5 hours for the 2 1/2 hour project. Once I had the Video_TS folder I took it to Popcorn and had it compress the file to a disc image. I then was able to burn DVDs using this disc image and it all fit on a single layer dvd.

Nancy, I too am trying to put a 2hr 20 min project on one disc. I want to try your method. I have “popcorn 4” but I have nevr figured out how to use it. What steps would I take. I am using imovie 09 to burn the disc. I have converted my project to a mov file for picture quality. Thanks Bill
