eSATA PCIe card (at least two ports) that works under SL?
So, my 2-port eSATA PCIe card does not have any drivers installed under SL.
I did a clean install of SL, so there’s no folder “Incompatible hardware”. Listing the PCIe slots, the card’s there but with no driver. No vendor, just a bunch of figures:Card

What kind of card is it? Perhaps there’s drivers.
If not try Sonnet. They have a multitude of different sata cards.

Can’t find any name of the mfc.
However, the info about “Subsustem vendor ID 3132” may indicate that it uses that Silicon Graphics chip 3132 that does not work…
I found a beta driver, but I’m hesitant to install.
I’m fairly sure it’s not a Sonnet card, would my card work with their drivers anyway?

I was talking Sonnet for a new card.
On the card itself, it doesn’t say who makes it?

I’d be interested in hearing how this comes out myself. After researching here the best card for my new GRaid, there seems to be the $50 cards (pcie x1) and the $300 cards (pcie x4). Apparently the latter gets the full 250-300MB/sec rates which the former is in the 100-150MB/sec range.
Right now I’m just running it off FW800 which pulls about 60MB/sec, which is slower than my internal sata which is pulling 90MB/sec.
A little net research real quick shows that there seems to be a problem getting manufacturers to update their esata drivers for snow leopard.

Well… I found a link to drivers from Silicons website. When I installed, I got kernel panic.
(No folder with incompatible hardware found upon reboot).
I tossed that installer in Trash, and I’m back with the LaCie driver still installed. (but no disks to mount, even if they are connected and powered on).
Right now I’m trying to find a dealer selling Sonnet here in Sweden. From what I can see, they have at least tested their eSATA cards with Snow Leopard…
(I’m starting to think about just plugging my eSATA drives into the chassie of the MacPro – that should at least work…)
But I guess it still won’t let my OWC Silver Elite AL eSATA/FW/USB enclosure mount… other than over FW.

FWIW:
I have discovered (with help from the Apple Disussions forum) that my eSATA PCIe card is a LaCie card.
I downloaded the drivers from their website. No luck.
Then I spoke to a Swedish dealer’s tech support. They told me that I first have to take out the adapter from my Mac Pro, then install the drivers and then put the adapter back in. (You should of course shut down between…)
And – lo and behold – now my bare bone SATA disks shows up (they are connected via cable to the LaCie PCIe adapter) and my OWC enclosure shows up as well. (Since it uses FW for power, I can’t really tell if it’s mounted as FW or eSATA…)

I have a sonnet e2p and one of the tempo 4 channel cards both working in Snow Leopard.

I ordered two Sonnet e2p today. (less than half the price for 4 ports, than buying the e4p card).

And after speaking to Sonnets tech support, they tell me that the E2P uses the same 3132 Silicon Image chip that LaCie does… *sigh*
Now I’m choosing between the E4P (different chip) and the Highpoint RocketRAID 2314 instead.
Decisions, decisions, decisions… argh!
