slow and sped up film
hi
I am looking to film an artist from low down looking up at him with the sky behind. i would like him to turn slowly down to the lens whilst at the same time have the sky behind him sped up very fast. can anyone please help on the best way to film and edit this in fcp 6.1?

You need to photograph the actor and the sky separately and then combine them later as a composite. Shoot the actor agains a greenscreen, shoot a sky at a matching angle. Use Shake, AE, Motion, or Nuke, etc to pull the key and make the composite.
If you want more detail, you may want to read “The Encyclopedia of Visual Effects”.

You can do this all in camera, if you plan it. Shoot the actor for a whole hour, and have him take a whole hour to to turn from his initial position and look at the camera. Then just speed up the whole clip until his turn looks normal-speed. The clouds will be fast-fast.
But the more flexible way would be to just shoot him against a clear sky or a white card or a green one, and key out that sky/card and replace it with a time-lapse clip, or a speed-altered one, as has been already suggested.
