• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  Final Cut Express HD

  I am trying to work with HDV footage 1080 60i on Final Cut Express HD. Right now I have the old version 3.5 and it is not supporting the mov files. I cannot even find the codec to view the files in my finder unless i use a vlc player. has anyone used final cut express hd to edit this hdv video? I am shooting on the Sony hdrfx1. If I upgrade will that supply me with the codecs I need?

  No, the only version of FCP titled “HD” was version 4.5. Version 3.5 was simply called FCP. Neither version supported HDV, support for HDV first arrived with FCP version 5.

  Matthew is using Final Cut Express not Final Cut Pro. And version 3.5 of FCE was called Final Cut Express HD.

  Probably FCE HD 3.5 can only handle Apple Intermediate Codec and not straight HDV files. But this is just me guessing…

  Yea thanks Stephen I am using Final Cut Express HD 3.5 and is does not support my HDV footage. Does 4.0 support it?

  Have you looked at your user manual? There is an entire chapter (16) devoted to working with HDV.
