  • Reading wrong bitrate from audio files

Posted by Joel Slabaugh on December 16, 2009 at 8:44 pm

FCP on one of our systems seems to be reading certain audio files as the wrong bitrate. Audio files we’ve used for years suddenly have shown up with a green bar indicating a different bitrate from the sequence settings. However, the correct bitrate appears in the information window within FCP and matches the sequence settings.

Repairing permissions seemed to fix some of the audio files being read wrong but not all.

Resetting FCP preferences seemed to do nothing.

In addition, moving the same project to a working bay reveals correctly read audio files but changes the edit so a music edit created in the problematic bay sounds wrong elsewhere. All files are read from the same sources.

Anybody have this issue or ideas for correcting it?

    Thanks!

I’d take some dynamite for sure! Or even a bat or golf club!

I think you need to do a clean re-install of the OS on the problem system.

This kind of crazy behavior seems to indicate a problem with Quicktime or Core Audio

If that doesn’t do it, take Dave’s advice and get some explosives.
