  video output question?

  So I shot a short film on Super16 and the telecine got it back to me in ProRes 422 HQ (1080p/psf). However, now that it’s finished and edited I need to send it out to crew, friends, festivals, etc. They require DVDs (not blu-ray, HD DVD, HDV, etc.) and I need to know what would be the best video format (export using quicktime conversion i would imagine?) to which to export the video so that it can be burned to a normal standard def DVD?

  I think the only option for viewing it on a DVD player is compressing your final video to MPEG2.

  Doing FIle > Export > Quicktime Conversion is not the best option. Do you have Compressor?

  From FCP, export a FCP reference file (FIle > Export > Quicktime Movie. Don’t bother making it self contained). Import that new file into Compressor, apply the “90 Min. DVD Best Quality” preset (which includes an MPEG preset for the image and an AC3 preset or your audio), adjust the preset accordingly in the Inspector pane, and then click Submit.
