I’m currently running tiger and Final Cut 6. Here’s my issue. I have some footage shot on the Canon XL-h1a in 4:3 NTSC. That I want to bring in via 6 pin firewire. Although when I go to easy set up and select DV-Firewire, it doesn’t recognize the camera. This is weird because it recognized it the same way a couple of days ago. Now it’s deciding not to. I don’t get it. This is a HDV/DV firewire connection, and the connection is sound because the camera’s viewfinder says so. And when I select easy setup HDV or HDV to ProRes via firewire it sees it. Plus, when I plug in my XL2 via 6 to 4 pin firewire it sees it on the dv setting. This is a headscratcher seeing FCP recognized the DV connection a couple days ago on the XL-h1a. There’s also no external drives connected via firewire as well because at first i thought it was my lacie but it’s not connected. Anyone that can provide an answer that would be helpful. Thanks

i think it must be how FCP and quicktime view the camera strictly as a hdv connection and doesn’t recognize it as dv also… what i’ve had to do is take the tape that i shot 4:3 ntsc xlh1a and load it in through my xl2. what a pain… hopefully this is a bug that gets worked out, because loading sd footage from the xlh1a is necessary when doing strictly sd projects… i guess the alternative would be to shoot it all in hd, bring it in prores and downconvert in final output…

    Many thanks..

I did try shooting in HD and selecting ProRes (rather than HD in Easy setup)… Still getting error message saying FCP is not connected to HD camera DECK.
