  • Effects – Erasing/Blurring Part Of Frame

I’m in film school and recently shot and edited my semester project. I have a title sequence that is displayed by different notes being passed, opened, and read. One of them reads: Director of Photography – John Smith and Music By: John Jones.

The problem is – the “John Jones” I had scoring my film recently backed out on me. I can’t reshoot the title sequence, but I can’t cut it either. I don’t want his name in there since he isn’t doing the music now.

I need a way to keep the frame in tact but remove the bottom half of the note from view. I’m not good with After Effects so I’m wondering if anyone has tips on doing this… blurring the bottom of the image, erasing it, etc. I’m trying to avoid cropping it.

Thanks so much for any help! I’m desperate!

    Hi Heather,
Google the free “Andy’s Region Tint&Blur”.
    Really easy to use.

Great! Thanks so much, guys. I’m definitely going to give this a try. I’ve been convinced my project would be a disaster due to this one technical issue, but this will hopefully clear that up!

    Hi Andy,
Yesterday I’ve used it to blur the background for some subtitles.
No needing to duplicate layers and use mask makes things easier for FC too.

Now you can call it “Andy’s International Blur&More” (if you like it).

hopefully you’ll find a good use for them … but failing that at least you can be assured of value for money 😉
