How to do the Echo at the End
Hi,
I’m trying to replicate an effect I’ve seen done in Commercials. When you get to the end of the video, if you have a continuous and powerful music track, you can either fade it down… Or make it stop suddenly, and then, so that it doesn’t feel jarring, have an echo of this sound for less than a second.
How would I do that? Here’s what I tried with no success:
– Splitting the last bit of audio, applying gain and adding an echo to the last 10 or 20 frames. Whatever I do, it just replicates so many instances of the sound, that it makes it sound muddy.
– Same with reverb. The sound is mushy.Any ideas?

Could you please elaborate? Do you need to use Soundtrack Pro (then this would be the wrong forum, but I posted it here since the audio effects are there in Final Cut)?
And more precisely, what do you automate, how much reverb?

Yes Soundtrack Pro, Logic, Protools… you have to automate (key frame) the effect where it is off and at some point comes on and builds to the amount of your liking. I can’t tell you how much as I don’t know what you like. You have to use your properly calibrated room and monitors and add to your likening.

The Audio Filters in FCP contain both a Reverb and an Echo, no need to use STP or PT if your not up to speed on them. Used keyframing to add the filter at your desired location in the timeline.
