Audio issue with WMV export
I’ve got a project that I am exporting as a WMV file. The export seems to work fine, I can play the WMV file just fine on the Mac in Quicktime. However, when I move to a PC workstation and watch it, things seem fine until the video ends. At the end, the video stops, but the audio turns to static and bits of audio here and there. The timeline shows the video as being stopped.
I’m pretty new to FCP, so I’m not sure what to even try or to check to try and fix this. Any suggestions?

How are you encoding the wmv? Does the audio and video end on the same frame in your timeline? If not, extend one track or use a Slug. Years ago, different length audio & video sometimes caused a problem. Just a thought.

I have flip4mac and was exporting from FCP using that.
After some more searching I came across a post on telestream’s forun regarding the same issue. Looks like it’s a bug in the most current version of the software. On the advice in this thread: https://forum.telestream.net/forum/messageview.aspx?catid=10&threadid=3603 I downgraded to an earlier build of the software and the file exported perfectly, no more strange noises.
Thanks for your response. I may still go back and test your idea on the audio and video ending on the same frame just to see if it makes any difference when I have some free time.
