Reconnecting HD Media After Editing in SD
Hello,
I shot some 720p footage on the HVX200 for a music video that I’m working on. Since I multiclip a lot, I decided to create SD versions of my clips to cut so as not to slow down my MacBook Pro too much.
My problem now is that I am reconnecting my sequence with the original 720p footage, the 720p footage appears scaled to 300% and the aspect ratio is off after I drop it in the sequence.
I’m pretty sure that I have the right sequence settings, so I don’t know why this is happening.
I would really appreciate it if anyone had any insight into this problem.

If you’re working on FCP 6 or later, start a new sequence, drag an HD clip into the timeline, and let FCP auto-conform it to the HVX footage. Then copy/paste all the relinked media into the new timeline, which makes sure everything will be happy, and with all the footage still selected, right click and remove attributes for Basic Motion and Distort and all should be good.

Collapse the multiclips. Then select the sequence in the Browser, and control click on it to select Media Manager.
Then select these options.
Media: Create offline
Set the sequences to the 720 setting that matches the original footage.Project: It’s optional to include the nonactive Multiclip angles, but I think I’d want to do this Cick OK.
then after new project opens, reconnect the media to the HD footage… viola.
This should work fine if you’ve not changed the names of the media files.
