Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy FCP YUV Vs RGB

    Hello All,

I am wondering what the argument is for not rendering out of FCP in RGB instead of it’s native YUV. If Color renders in RGB, would it not be advantageous to stay in the dame color space? I realize the delivery specs are relevant.

The only time I select it, for rendering, is for maintaining color fidelity after DPX to quicktime conversion and I’m using aja Kona 10bit RGB. otherwise i’m in high precision YUV and outputting to tape. I used to have to use it with a plugin package i used to have from Digital Film Tools.

Most video formats are YUV color space. It’s usually to your advantage to stay there if you can. Shifting back & forth can cause changes in gamma.
