    Hey gang…

Can someone explain why when you use SmoothCam and other plugins that do the same thing (Magic Bullet Steady and C2’s Lock and Load) do you get these blurry frames every now and then?

There’s no real pattern to it, it just looks like its picking frames at random times and making some of them look like there is a gaussian blur applied to them. I can understand some pixelation since you are zooming in on the frame but the blurred frames look awful.

With Smoothcam, it wholly depends on the motion of the shot. It is analyzing the frames pixel for pixel and sometimes interpolates what it thinks is the right pixel and fills that in with it’s interpolation. Sometimes, it thinks wrong.

    Yeah, I see that…

This must be an issue with all of these plugins.

[Wayne Carey] “This must be an issue with all of these plugins.”

It’s not really an issue, but rather the nature of the beast. Vector mapping and interpolating pixels is some heavy math, and sometimes it rounds the wrong way, especially if you don’t want to wait four days for it render and figure it out.
