I have a client that I meet with across town. I am wondering if it is possible to move the files that I have stored on a GTech drive to a portable Iomega eGo, and edit without problems. Never edited from a portable before.

I just completed a DV project this week that was captured and rough-cut on an FCP system in LA and then all the files were put on an Iomega eGo and that little drive was Fed-Exed to me in the midwest.

I connected the drive to my Mac with a 6-pin Firewire cable, opened the project, reconnected the media (had to “tell” FCP that the media was now on the Iomega drive)
and had no problems whatsoever finishing the edit will all the media still on the Iomega.

(I was originally going to copy all the media to one of my internal Mac drives, but I didn’t encounter any problems just editing from the Iomega external.)

The spots were dubbed to BetaSP and sent to the stations yesterday.

I can usually get at least 2 streams of DVCPro HD off most FW800 single drives.
