color shift between FCP and COlor
Posted by Joe Orange on November 10, 2009 at 10:31 amIngested Native Red QT files.
Why is there such a vast color shift between what is displayed in FCP and the same sequence sent to and displayed in Color?
In FCP it looks “almost there” but perhaps could do with some tweaking but in Color the shift is substantial and confusing.
Is it that the RAW file is being displayed in Color?Joe Orange replied 16 years, 6 months ago 4 Members · 5 Replies -

November 10, 2009 at 10:53 amWhat FCP, Color and RED codec versions are you using? Are you viewing material on screen or on a ref-monitor? If the later, what video card are you using?

November 10, 2009 at 2:56 pmThe computer monitor and editing application and COLOR application are never the place to judge the quality of your image. FCP lowers the resolution of the footage to enable full frame smooth playback.
Always ALWAYS use an external monitor.

November 10, 2009 at 6:04 pmI’m using a Macbook Pro with an ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card although I have seen the same thing happen on a proper set-up with an 8-core with at least 3 different monitors plus a CRT.
Could it be that Color displays the RAW file while FCP displays the QT file hence the difference or is that just not how Color works?
