This is probably a stupid question with a simple answer but I can’t seem to figure this out:

With my past projects, I’ve been working with DV tape that I’ve shot myself and therefore when I went to log & capture I would hook the camera up to my computer. I could then set in & out points to select various clips from each reel.

Now, I’m working with 8mm film that’s been converted into digital files for me and sent on an external hard drive. How do I select clips from each file (which is a whole roll of 8mm) to then dump into various bins for organization. All I’ve been able to figure out is to import each file but this means it’s the whole roll. I haven’t been able to figure out how to cut it up into clips to dump into different bins and then discard what I don’t want.

I’d greatly appreciate assistance with this.

    Thanks!

    Hi, Julie

Search the Final Cut manuals for “Creating subclips”, “Make Subclip” and “Make Independent Clip”.

    Hope that helps.
