    Hello,

I keep getting the following error when I try to render effect in my sequence.

“The effect “Soft Focus” cannot be rendered in a sequence of this size with the current graphics card.”

My sequence setting is: 1080i 29.97 Apple ProRes(HQ)
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
Computer: 2x3GHZ Quad Core Intel Xeon MacPro

I heard one reason could be my graphics card is going. Anyone else come across this issue before? If it’s the graphics card, is there a way to test it?

    Thanks again,

    WW

The graphics card you have doesn’t have enough…UUMPH…to deal with that FXPlug plugin (plugins that rely on the graphics card) at that resolution. You need to get a more powerful graphics card, like the ATI 3870, or better yet, the 4870.

wow…i was told my GFX card would be able to handle this resolution. funny thing is it can handle some other plugins at this frame size.

    thanks for the advice,

[Will Whalien] ” was told my GFX card would be able to handle this resolution. “

RESOLUTION…yes. NOte that you don’t have any issues editing the format straight. Add the FXPlug plugin…one that relies on the graphics card and THEN you have the issue.

Right. Not all plugins are FXPlug plugins. And not all FXPlug plugins require the card card. Some do fine with what you have, but the more demanding plugins require more. You need to give FCP that more.

[Will Whalien] “pardon my ignorance, but what are FXPlug plugins? “

Plugins written to take advantage of the processors on a Graphics card. The first FCP plugins were FX Script I believe…
