    Hi All:
I am at a crossroads and would love some input from some of my fellow Cow members.

My duel processor G-5 Power Mac (pre-intel) lost it’s seemingly irreplacable video card, and now whaat to do. I have a fulltime gig at Sports Network and use fairly blownout Mac Pros, but at home I do some documentary stuff, a little design using motion and some freelance promo work. I don’t make a lot on the side so replacing a $4000 dollar computer is tough.

I was considering a Mac Book Pro as it has mote power than the desktop I am replacing. I would love some input of editing on the MAc book Pro as opposed to the desktop.
    Thanks for the input

ALso thought of the new 3.01 quad processor I mac with 8 gigs of ram as an editing system solution

You might try looking around for a used 2.5ghz MBP from the last generation. They were the last ones that had an express card slot and they come equipped with the good graphics card too.

The new iMacs are pretty cool, but you’re stuck with firewire 800 and you’ll need an MXO or other similar device for displaying to a video monitor.

Go to the Apple store, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Special Deals” link on the left. Maybe one of the Mac Pros listed there is more in your budget? If not, they do have Mac Book Pros too.
