  HD Playback with Timecode

  Anyone out there have a suggestion on a cheap HD camcorder that can be used for logging? I shoot using a Canon XH-A1, but, my reporter/producer has no way of viewing the tapes, and I’m not about to hand over my camera for logging. I just need to make sure I get a camcorder that shows the timecode on the LCD screen.

  Look for a Canon HV20 or HV30 or HV40. Consumer HDV that plays all flavors of canon HDV. I found a referbed HV20 for less than $500 The 40 is around $800 new.
