    Hi all,

As i said, ive never quite understood this, as simple as it is, but its been irritating me for a while.

Lets say we have a sprite moving left to right across the screen. We use easy ease so that we create a gentle acceleration-deceleration motion, but its not quite right, we want to accentuate that acc-dec even more than easy ease does by default…

So we go to temporal editor and we want to edit that smooth curve – so we click on the keyframes and try to create bezier handles to have more precise control – but all you get a those stupid horizontal handles – not full bezier control :s

Of course we can go to value graph and work from the opposite direction; changing the values at a given time – but this doesnt help cos in the value editor i dont have any controls at all – i can choose bezier, auto, bezier, continuous bezier – but i have no control handles 🙁

This is easy on other programmes I have used by i seem to be a bit dim when it comes to AE – can anyone help?

Frustratingly enough, the only way to get some decent control over everything is to use expressions to link x,y,z to separate sliders and animate those sliders, you’ll have 3 sets of bezier curves then.

There’s an animation preset that sets it up.

Me, I’ve switched many times to using linear animation, and keyframing the parameters of a smooth() expression. IMO that’s the most logical way of getting smooth results I have no idea how to do wikth easing/tempralk curves.

Those handles change the influence of the keyframe, this is a scalar value, not a vector, in Adobe’s implementation so there is no direction available. If you want to accentuate the easy ease motion of the keyframes you would want to increase the influence of both keyframes (drag the handles out).
