Importing files to FCP
Hi,
I am trying to import a .mov file into FCP version 5.
The file has the following properties:
dimensions- 1920 x 1080
codecs- Linear PCM, DVCPRO HD (1080p30)When I open it, it plays only audio. After adding it to the timeline I have to render it. When I try, it reports “codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”
What would be my solution here?

I think the solution is to upgrade to FCP 6. Not sure v. 5 can handle that. Anyone?

Somethings odd. DVCPRO HD at 1080 is 1280×1080 anamorphic, not full raster 1920×1080. Where did this file come from? Exported from something like After Effects?
Your machine and version of FCP have the DVCPRO HD codec, but the dimensions are off.

The footage was sent to me. I think the original footage was shot on XDCAM, and they converted it to the DVCPRO HD. I also have the original footage on XDCAM, and have the same trouble with that. But with v5 I don’t think I’m able to open XDCAM.
They also sent it to a friend of mine, who has FCP v6, and he was able to open it without a problem.
If it is a problem of versions, is there a way it can be converted into a format that v5 will open?
As far as the dimension issue, I have no idea!!

I’m also having trouble playing it in Quicktime (I have version 7, and the upgraded version that came with the Snow Leopard upgrade, even though it is a .mov. It plays audio, no video.
