  • MEDIA MANAGER – Worried about Deletion

Posted by Jason Armstrong on October 7, 2009 at 6:42 am

Hi guys. I have to export a looooong edit for colour correction. They want a Media Manager file, but I’m nervous exporting such a file will delete all the unused clips and if an edit needs changing late, I’m cooked.

Will setting MM to “copy media” AND “delete unused portions” just delete the unused portions of the copies or the originals?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

By checking the option place in a new project always create a new version.

I don’t understand if that answered my question. Will it delete any of the original files?

Do a copy with Handle then. If you don’t know how to operate the Media Manager, check out the manual or check out this “still valid” article by Andrew Balis

Media Manager uses hopeless terminology and I understand your reticence. When it says “Delete unused media” it really means “Do not include unused media in the new copy”. It isn’t going to delete master clips.

Boom. THAT’s the answer I was looking for. Yes, that terminology is what had me spooked. Thanks to everyone for helping me get clear on that stuff!
