hi. when I was learning to use FCP there were effects called Bad TV (under Distort) and one called Kaleidotile (under perspective). When I had Final Cut Express installed on my laptop I had those effects too but now on a new computer I can not get those and I’m not sure why. I have installed both programs and there are still those and other effects that I am not getting.

Does anybody know about these and know how I can get them?

If they were not installed you will need to go back to the original disks and look for them. But they may simply exist in the wrong Library. They can be hard to find since Spotlight doesn’t look everywhere you think it should.

I’ve never used FCE and you don’t mention the version numbers of either application so it is quite possible those effects simply are not included with your version.

Bad TV is under Stylize, not Distort.
Kaleidotile is under Tiling not Perspective.
    Look there.
If they are not there, go to Effects > Effects Availability > All Effects

Thanks for the tips, I set the availability to all effects but I’m still missing these and others. The library thing could be right, how can I check.

anyway, its Final Cut Pro 7.0 and FCE 4.0

These effects are only available if Motion is installed on your system.

That’s why the FCP manual refers you to the Motion manual to understand how they work.

    Do you have Motion installed?
