  • Outputing FCP files to Compatible PC formats—requested in .mp4 Format?

Posted by Daniel Monskey on September 22, 2009 at 6:32 pm

I have some HD clips in a timeline that need to go from FCP to a PC compatible format. The guy requested .mp4 format. When I output them using QUICKTIME CONVERSION they come out very small (235 Mb for 24 minutes of HD footage) and they wont play on my MAC. He wants them in the highest resolution and quality—original quality if possible. They were shot in 720p 60fps.
Can someone walk me through the best process to output FCP files to PC compatible format? or direct me to instructions of how to do this? There are so many choices in the FCP system that I could try it 1,000 times and still not get it right.
    Thank you

I just talked with him—he just wants a compatible format to use with his PC system (.mp4 is what he has been familiar with). He is using Sony Vega Platinum version 9 for software. What will keep the files as high a quality as possible and still be compatible?
    Thanks for your input.

Try Photo – Jpeg at 75%, too. It’s compact, but yields high quality.
