  Capturing without timecode

  Hi,

  I’m trying to capture footage recorded on a Sony Z1, and have discovered there is no timecode on any of the tapes (DVCam recorded on miniDV tapes, 16:9). Having changed the settings to ‘non-controllable device’ and trying to ‘capture now’, after about a second of capturing,it aborts with the message ‘Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape.’

  Any help or suggestions would be extremely helpful.

  Hi Abi,
  In the Preferences, set the less demanding option for capturing.
  Uncheck “Abort capture on dropped frames”.
  Set “On Time Code break: Warn after capture”.
  That should helps.

  Hi!
  I did as you suggested, but with no luck. Same messages comes up within a few seconds of attempting to capture..

  I am no expert but it looks as though z1 actually erased the timecode that existed on the tape, is this possible? And with absolutelly no time code is there any way of saving/capturing the material?

  Really struggling here, so any feedback is very much appreciated,
