Edit to tape not working
Hi Folks,
I am attempting to layoff to a DVCPRO HD AJ-1200A deck from FCP2. My footage is 1920×1080 and I am using a Kona 3 Card. When I go to drag the Sequence Icon into the Assemble window it does not highlight, it does not high light in any of the windows. I have tested other projects going to different decks and they work fine but when I go to layoff to this deck nothing happens. If I go into the machine room a press the record button I get video and audio so I am confused as to why the assemble function won’t work. I reset the factory settings on the deck, updated my kona 3 to the most recent version and dump my preferences in FCP. Has anyone been through this or can help.

As I recall, you can’t edit to tape on the 1200. It was designed to be a player only…although you could CRASH RECORD to it. No, that is a big improvement the 1400 deck has.
I had the same issue when I was first testing out DVCPRO HD. We then decided to output to HDCAM.

Yep…Shane is right…you can’t edit to tape with the 1200 using RS-422.
I was able to make it work using Firewire deck control, but it is not frame accurate.

That would be one reason to buy the AG-HPG20.
