Inserting clips to timeline relevant to TOD timecode
Hi all,
I’ve got a feeling this has been answered before but I can’t find the thread. If someone could direct me to it that’d be helpful. I vaguely recall a plugin being mentioned??
I have some clips each recorded with Time Of Day Timecode. I need to add them to the timeline so that they are inserted according to the timecode. i.e. Clip 1 ends at 16:05:00:00 and Clip 2 begins at 16:05:30:00 and I need Clip 2 to automatically be inserted 30 seconds after Clip 1.
At the moment the best way I know to do this is by setting the timeline to begin at the same TC as Clip 1, then I type the TC In for each clip and insert at that point on the timeline. This works fine, it’s just slow when I have a lot of clips. Is there a faster way?
Hopefully someone knows of a better solution.

If you click the “In”, “Out” or “Media Start” in the Browser, the clips will be ordered by TC.
Select them I drag them to the time-line.

This will insert the clips in the correct order, but it doesn’t leave any gaps between the clips relevant to the time of day they were recorded, which is what I’m after.
Do you know whether FCP is able to do this automatically? It’s looking increasingly like the manual process I’m using is the only option.

Just select all the clips, then choose Modify > Make Multiclip Sequnece …
Leave all settings at default and press OK. That’ll create a Bin of multiclips and a Sequence
Open the new sequence and you should find all those source clips laid out chronologically according to their source timecode with sequence timecode to match. Magical 🙂Best
