OK I must be an idiot. I just got this new Sony CX520V today and started playing with it. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the files into FCP. I am guessing direct is out of the question. I was thinking maybe Sony had a utility like like ‘XDCAM transfer’, but if there is I can’t find it. I have been waiting for this camera for an upcoming Cruise to Greece, but now I am not so sure. Any help would greatly be appreciated

Looks like it records avchd in HD and mpeg2 in sd? If recording in HD, try opening log and transfer and point it to your files.

I tried this earlier, but I missed a step. When the Sony is connected to the USB on the MAC a menu comes up on the camera that says connect to USB. I didn’t pay attention the first time, but there are 2 buttons on the screen of the camera that say connect to USB with little pictures beside them one picture is for the memory card and one is for the onboard memory. I had recorded to onboard but had pushed the button for memory card. Since the card was blank,…..As I said in my first post I must be an idiot. Thanks for pushing me back to the log and transfer.

No problem. Glad it worked for you and nice sleuthing.
