I called Adobe and got 2 different answers about upgrading to the Production Premium. I have AE7 pro and PS & Ill from the CS2 suite. The first call to Adobe gave me an upgrade price of about

Our upgrades were in that lower price range. We have a huge number of users of a wide range of Adobe products so we use a contract reseller.

Instead of calling Adobe’s know-nothing customer service people (who may or may not work for Adobe) , try using a respected reseller. The price is the same and they usually have the correct answers.

The first quote is probably for upgrading from AE standalone to Production Studio CS3, and the second from Creative Suite 2 to Production Studio. In this case, as long as you have the CS2 serial numbers, everything will be fine.

    Hi Adolfo

You’re saying that there should be definitely an upgrade path from my CS2 to the Production Premium bundle? Does it matter that my CS2 was itself an upgrade from a full Photoshop version?

    Cheers

The upgrade needs a CS2 serial number from an actual suite, not just serial numbes from CS applications. So the upgrade is uninstallable without a Suite serial number. I was in a similar situation – I owned all the applications but had bought them all seperately over the years. Adobe wasn’t really into negotiating on that and I finally got someone at Adobe to assign a case to see if they would issue me a CS2 serial number so I could upgrade, but I never heard back and attempts to contact tthem to follow up were just too frustrating.

Thanks Nick, no, I definitely have CS1 and CS2 as full suites. So it seems I should be able to take the cheaper upgrade path. Cheers, that’s good news.

I’m tellin’ ya, dealing with Adobe’s phone people is only gonna pi$$ you off. Work with a reseller.

I’m sorry to bang on about this, but it’s such a massive price difference and even the resellers are twisting my melon man…

I have CS1 & CS2 (they were upgrades from PS7 I think) and I want CS3 Production Premium – Adobe say I don’t qualify for the full discount, one reseller says my CS2 serial will work fine but another isn’t sure…

Does anyone have actual experience of upgrading from this position?

    Cheers

    A
